PUNE: Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu is all set to lead out the FC Pune City squad for the second edition of the Indian Super League if messages on social media and an Italy-based website are to be believed.
The 36-year-old Romanian player was unable to make it to India last year itself, as FIFA had turned down his application as it was filed after closure of the transfer window.

Mutu, according to posts on Twitter, has signed a two-year contract with the ISL franchise amounting to 5,00,000 euros per season. He last played for Romania-based top flight club Petrolul Ploiesti and was said to hang up his boots last year. However, the former Fiorentina and Juventus player, who has scored a record 35 goals for Romania, seems to have changed his stance.
The former Chelsea star is best known for his sacking from Stamford Bridge in 2004 for testing positive for cocaine. After being sacked by Chelsea, the controversial star also served a six-month suspension after failing a dope test while playing for Fiorentina in Serie A.
He was also banned from the national team in 2011 when he and teammate Gabriel Tama were found drinking in a bar while the rest of their team faced San Marino.
